{Event} Under the Vintage Veil 1st Birthday

When I heard the Under the Vintage Veil first birthday bash was going to be in Brighton I knew I had to get involved! Fortunately Sara was well up for me to be involved and I was in for a few behind the scenes photos and the catwalk photos.

It turned out I carried on brandishing my camera while dancing, hence the reason why some of these shots are a bit… well… crap. Emma Lucy + copious amounts of gin and sambuca does not equal good photographs!

{Styled Shoot} Marie Antionette meets hollywood starlet inspiration shoot

In November Poppy from Connie & Dolly contacted me in regards to a shoot she wanted to do to showcase some of her beautiful pieces. Connie & Dolly specialise in vintage so needless to say we wanted to go for a vintage edge with this shoot.

Poppy, myself and Carla Ramsey, the makeup artist for the shoot, got together and over coffee in a busy London cafe we came up with our theme. We wanted something fun and pretty but also something really striking. That’s how we ended up with Marie Antoinette meets hollywood starlet.

We didn’t have much time to organise the shoot so emails flew between me and Poppy while we gathered props and finalised all the details.

We were lucky enough to shoot at the amazing Nonsuch Mansion in Surrey. We had beautiful light on the day too, around 3.30pm the sun started to set and a beautiful orange light spread across the vast lawn. I’ve included a few of these shots in this post, perhaps too many but I couldn’t choose, I love all of them!

I hope you enjoy these images and do let us know what you think of the shoot. Our aim was to inspire so we hope we did just that!

I’d like to say thanks to Poppy for this wonderful opportunity. To Carla for being such an amazingly talented hair and makeup artist and to the other people involved: Nonsuch Mansion, Charlotte from Charlotte Bridal for the use of her amazing dresses and Emmy for lending us some lush shoes. {Wedding} A retro wedding in Canterbury…

I know Stuart because we’re both geeks and used to frequent a music label forum. I was really excited about this wedding when I met with Stu and Antonia in a Brixton pub to discuss their wedding. The idea of it was just amazing – a service followed by a reception with a twist. Antonia and Stuart had hired out the entire Canterbury Youth Hostel for a night of feasting and dancing. The best thing about this wedding is everyone was involved – everyone contributed a dish or a service of some description

Then there’s that dress. Seriously good. I was so impressed when I heard Antonia had made it herself.

Stu is a DJ and so are most of his friends so they threw a mini rave in the basement of the youth hostel. I had a wonderful evening celebrating with this creative couple. I’d like to offer apologies to anyone trying to get in the dorm room I’d locked myself in (with earplugs inserted)! I’m just not rock’n'roll enough.
